What exactly is a “trenchless” method, and why is it better than traditional sewer pipe repair? Traditional methods involve digging a trench in your backyard to remove old, damaged pipes and lay a new system. It's a huge process that involves excavation and will require you to leave your home for several days. Trenchless technology is faster and only requires one small hole to be dug. These services can be completed quickly. Here’s a quick rundown of exactly how our trenchless pipe lining service works.
Inspection & Assessment
Inspection will always be the first step before the pipe lining process. We need to know that your drains are the right candidate for drain lining, and during this step, we’ll use cutting-edge tools such as special video inspection equipment to look down into your drain line and discover what’s going on. It’s very difficult to understand what the root cause of a plumbing problem is unless we see inside your pipes, so this is a step that cannot be missed. When we take a peek inside sewer drains, we often see clogs, but sometimes we see cracks, holes, and corrosion as well. Other times there are tree roots that have invaded local sewer lines and, in some cases, pipes that are completely burst. As you can imagine, the way we treat each of these scenarios is completely different and may not always require pipe lining. Homes with extremely damaged pipes or tree roots will need sewer line replacement pipes or rooter services, while clogs can be resolved with our efficient drain cleaning methods.
Pipe Lining
If we determine that your drain or sewer line does indeed need pipe lining, Residents don’t need to panic. This trenchless service is the perfect solution for pipes that have pinholes, cracks, and corrosion. Before we begin lining your pipes, we’ll need to clean them thoroughly. This ensures that the tube we insert will adhere to the pipe itself and allows for the largest possible diameter to allow water to pass through.
After we clean your pipes with HydroScrub® Jetting, we’ll dig a small hole at the entry point of your main sewer line. Inserting a flexible “sleeve” soaked in epoxy resin into your existing pipe, we’ll pull it through to cover the affected areas before pushing in an inflatable tube that we blow up to fit the sleeve properly in your old pipe. When the epoxy cures, it will harden, and the inflatable tube will be removed. And just like that, you have a stronger, durable pipe with very minimal invasion to your home!
